Donations to Broadmead Care enhance Nigel Program clients' lives by helping to purchase equipment and support programs that are only partially covered by government funds or client fees.
The fundraising priorities for the Nigel Program for Adults with Disabilities include:
- five electric beds for the residents of Nigel House. These beds allow adults with disabilities to adjust their position when they wish and ease the strain on staff when providing care – total cost $19,000; and
- three electric lifts. These lifts safely transfer residents from bed to wheelchair in a comfortable and dignified way. Once in their wheelchairs, residents can join in activities like birthday parties, bocce ball and Christmas decorating - total cost $28,000.
