There are many ways that volunteering brings meaning to the lives of veterans, residents and clients in all of our sites and programs. Whether you like to take part in group activities and discussion, visit one-on-one, assist with meal or refreshment service, accompany residents on a community outing, or support with volunteer program planning, administration or fundraising – we have a role for you!
The Nigel Program for Adults with Disabilities (located near Uptown Mall in Saanich) may appeal to those interested in sharing time with younger adult residents who have physical and cognitive challenges and want to participate in community activities and outings.
The Lodge at Broadmead and Veterans Health Centre (located in Broadmead) may interest those who want to spend their volunteer time making moments matter with veterans and seniors, many of whom have dementia.
The Broadmead Care Foundation and Volunteer Services (located in the Lodge at Broadmead) may appeal to volunteers interested in administration, communications, training, fundraising and events.
Current Volunteer Opportunities
Nigel Program: Residents would appreciate a volunteer to join them for community outings one-to-one. If you enjoy window shopping at the mall, going out for coffee, going for walks with your dog or your small children, consider taking along a resident from the Nigel Program located in the neighbourhood of the Saanich Municipal Hall.
The Lodge at Broadmead and Veterans Health Centre: Veterans and residents would love to have more volunteers to assist them in the creative arts program in the studio or on the individual lodges. Meal Assistants and Lodge Assistants who spend one-to-one time with veterans and residents on the Lodges are also on our wish list!
